The MET office said that the city received more than 4mm rain with 83 percent humidity in air in the evening. The rain that started at around noon completely knocked out the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) authorities and wreaked havoc among the inhabitants of Lahore, especially citizens in the northern part of the city.
The inhabitants of low-lying areas of the city faced a hard time due to the rain as sewage gushed into their homes destroying many of their belongings. Additionally, the heavy rains caused traffic jams on various roads of the city.
Furthermore, the rains severely affected electrical and communicational systems due to which the supply of electricity in different localities remained suspended for several hours.
The most adversely affected areas of the city included Ichhra, Samanabad, Mozang, Misri Shah, Shahdara, Badami Bagh, Wasan Pura, Shad Bagh, Do Morya Pul, Lakshmi Chowk, Gawalmandi, Nisbat Road and Circular Road where people remained active in clearing water from their houses.
The key roads which remained blocked due to these weather conditions included The Mall, Lower Mall, GT Road, Multan Road, Circular Road, Ferozpur Road and the Canal road.
The heavy rains also exposed the negligence of WASA authorities due to which all the main roads of Lahore and the surrounding residential, industrial and commercial areas were inundated with rain and sewage.
Several citizens said that residential areas in particular were submerged in rain water for a couple of hours, as there were no alternative drains to carry the water to WASA’s main drains. The only option left with the WASA to clear rain water was through its sewer lines but these were unable to accommodate the heavy flow of rain water, they added.
On the other hand, the weather throughout the city turned pleasant after these heavy rains. The load shedding stricken masses got much needed relief as the weather turned pleasant after the rain.

The MET Office forecasted more showers in Lahore. According to the MeT office report the city would remain partly cloudy and there were heavy chances of rain-thundershower with minimum temperatures of 21 to 24 degrees.
As per the report, well marked seasonal low lied over Northwest Balochistan and adjoining areas with its trough extending northeastwards. Monsoon currents were reaching into the upper parts of the country and a fresh western disturbance was affecting the upper parts of the country and was likely to persist during next two to three days, it added.
