The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has decided to appoint Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, a Britain-based prominent Pakistani, as the next governor of Punjab province, a private TV channel reported on Friday.
According to the channel, PML-N president and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken his party leaders into confidence over Sarwar’s appointment to the top federal government position in the province. Sarwar has reportedly applied for revocation of his British citizenship and this development has further fuelled rumours that he has been given the nod for Punjab governorship.
Earlier three candidates were being considered for the post which included Sarwar, leading industrialist Farooq Khan and Senator Rafique Rajwana.

  1. Nawaz hasn’t learnt from his past. Politics of 90s have started again. No doubt PPP Govt was master in corruption but they didn’t seek any political revenge in last five years and only due to reconciliation they could be able to complete five years. Nawaz will lose his credibility very soon. The Government could not find a single person for the position of Governor Punjab! How sad are the affairs of our politicians and political systems; that we had to import from UK, our Governor!
