KMC commissioner survives blast, 3 bomb makers weren’t lucky

Twin blasts of different nature rocked the provincial metropolis on Saturday evening, killing three and injuring seven. The injured also included Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) commissioner.
Per details, the first blast targeted the official convoy of KMC Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan near Essa Nagri graveyard at Hassan Square, Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Saturday evening. As a result, the commissioner and four others sustained serious injuries.
No casualties were reported in the incident, however hospital sources claimed the lives of all the injured were out of danger.
According to details, the vehicle of KMC Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan was targeted at Essa Nagri when the official was heading towards his home located in Nazimabad area. The attackers used parked motorcycles as their tools that could not brought the large scale damages as happened in previous cases.
According to eyewitnesses, the blast completely damaged the black squad car bearing a government number plate. Besides, two motorcycles, believed to have been used in the blast, and two nearby rickshaws were also damaged in the blast.
The commissioner was immediately rushed to the Liaquat National Hospital where he underwent a minor operation and his condition was declared stable by the doctors. Meanwhile, the condition of the other injured was also stated to be out of danger.
The explosion was so intense that it was heard in almost all nearby areas and while dark clouds of smoke could also be seen from far away. The traffic came to a virtual standstill after the blast rocked the metropolis.
Meanwhile, an explosion occurred inside a house near Patel Para that killed three people and injured two others.
Rescue officials said that the explosion could have possibly occurred as a result of a gas cylinder blowing up. However, police differed in their version, saying it was the result of a bomb making process gone wrong, and pointed out towards the ball bearings scattered around the place.
Police officials claimed that the explosion occurred on the third storey of an under construction building. As rescue and investigation teams arrived at the scene of the incident, Rangers cordoned off the area surrounding the crime scene.
The bodies of the dead were still inside ambulance vans, while the injured were been shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. One of the injured, reportedly named Imran, had been taken under custody as one of the suspects.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, while taking notice of the blast, called for a thorough probe into the incident so that those involved could be brought to the book
