Without any permission by top authorities, blue-eyed officials of the National Assembly have started taking action over the findings of the special inquiry committee constituted by National Assembly speaker.

On directions of influential Karmat Hussain Niazi, the National Assembly secretary who is serving his eighth tenure in office, the committee issued a charge sheet against four PAC officials reportedly protecting the skin of senior officials after their alleged failure in tracing corruption.

According to details, the inquiry committee formed by the NA speaker prepared a charge sheet against four PAC officers for alleged mismanagement.

However, a source said they failed to trace corruption, out-of-merit audit para settlements and mismanagement by the PAC after weeks of inquiry.

The source said that without any official directives by the NA speaker, the inquiry committee officials, led by Joint Secretary (Legal) Latif Qureshi, towed NA Secretary Niazi’s line and allegedly started victimising the four officials of PAC without any corruption evidences.

The implementation has been initiated without any formal directions by NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and a charge sheet has been sent to PAC Deputy Sec Romana Kakar, Section Officer Salamat Ali, Section Officer Hafeez Mehwish and Section Officer Asif for alleged mismanagement.

They have been charged without any clear evidences for alleged changes in the PAC report and data that was not verified in the probe made by the committee, the source added.

In case any mismanagement has been undertaken by the accused, it would have been impossible without the involvement of the joint secretary and additional secretary, however, the blue-eyed are being spared generously.

On the other hand, NA Secretary Karamat Niazi reportedly is reportedly engaged in issuing stern statements against the four officials, threatening them of consequences, in complete ignorance of his own half-a-dozen extensions as the NA secretary.

His statements reflect the personal grudges he keeps against PAC Deputy Secretary Romana Kakar.

According to the sources, action would be taken against four PAC officers mentioned in the charge sheet after recording their replies in 14 days.
