The Nawaz government has not learnt any lesson from the past and it is treading the same path of political victimisation and vilification of Pakistan People’s Party through media as it had done in the 1990s.
Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said this in a statement on Friday.
Shah said the reports about two former provincial ministers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rahim Dad Khan and Zahir, being summoned by the NAB in the OGRA case seemed to have been planted by the government.
It appeared the government wanted to divert attention from the scandals behind cost escalation of Nandipur project and questionable payments made for clearing the circular debt, he said.
The Opposition leader said it was unfortunate that the Nawaz regime was resorting to the tactics of former NAB chief Saif-ur-Rehman who created an environment of harassment in the country and chased the way foreign investors.
Khursheed Shah warned the government against witch-hunting and said the PPPP would not be deterred by such tactics.
