Punjab’s Election Commission (EC) on Saturday said that the delimitation of constituencies for local government polls was the responsibility of the provincial government, not the EC.
Provincial Election Commissioner Mehboob Anwar said that the commission would hold polls whenever the government made the local government law and asked the commission to hold elections.
According to reports, the Punjab government was considering a proposal to give the responsibility of delimitation of constituencies to the provincial EC.
Mehboob said the EC had no constitutional role with regard to the delimitation of constituencies.
i agree with Mr. Anwar PEC, Punjab,
as this is only prime duty of Provincial government as local government bill/act passed by the Provincial Assembly
Election Commission will only perform their to conduct election according to the rules and regulations framed by this government.
