The US has asked Pakistan to admit that Dr Aafia Siddiqui was a terrorist and her conviction by the US court was justified, making it a compulsion for her extradition to complete the remaining part of her imprisonment in Pakistan.
According to a private TV channel, finally the conditions of the prisoner swap deal likely to be signed between the US and Pakistan for the extradition of Dr Aafia has come to the surface. The US has offered two deals to Pakistan for the extradition of Dr Aafia.
According to the documents acquired by the channel, the US has asked Pakistan to admit that Aafia was a terrorist and her conviction by the US court was justified, making it a compulsion for her extradition to complete the remaining part of her imprisonment in Pakistan.
Under the deal, the US has also forced Pakistan to admit that she was arrested from Afghanistan for trying to shoot three American soldiers.
The deal also clarified that only those prisoners will be exchanged who have been found guilty by the courts, adding that prisoners like Dr Shakil Afridi will be exempted from the agreement since he was not born in the US.
Earlier, it was found that the US offered two deals that include European Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons and Convention on Serving Criminal Sentences Abroad for the extradition of neuroscientist.
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that the Interior Ministry had formed a taskforce following the US offer that held its first session on July 3 to review the agreement. The taskforce was established under the directives of Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan.
The Pakistani neuroscientist was sentenced to 86 years in prison after she was convicted of grabbing a US soldier’s M-4 assault rifle and trying to shoot a group of FBI agents and soldiers at an Afghan police compound in July 2008, a charge she consistently denied during the trial.
If Dr Afia was a US national, than she was liable to be tried under the Patriot Act. The Govt of Pakistan should focus their attention on welfare of Pakistani citizens. As far as Dr Shakil is concerned, he is a Pakistani national and must be tried in Pakistan. All Pakistani citizens who are found be involved in spying for any foreign country, must be punished, whether they are civilians or khakis. Mr Pasha has himself admitted that he knew NGO Save The Children had CIA agents, yet he chose to look the other way. What do we classify this act as?.
Have her pardoned and then bring her over. Our patriotic politicians shall never try to safeguard the interests of our country.
Only GOD knows what really is going on in this world! Sad to say I sure can see the people of the have a very had time loving each other. If we could all love, The way GOD has asked us to, there would be none of this. One by one we can do it, lets try….
Why should Pakistan acknowledge she was a terrorist if the US is so sure she was/is why seek a nod from us?
Perhaps the US fears that the conviction was actually unsafe and worries that the truth will out and shame them.
I don't know if she is or isn't a terrorist. I just wonder at the strange stance taken by the Americans. After the OJ simpson and Trayvon judgements, perhaps America is feeling a little unsure of its justice system
You Pakistanis, even caught with your pants down, and proved guilty in the court of law under all transparency, will never admit the truth. You will always read not the book, but between the lines, to split every hair to deny what is written in black and white. All of you are terrorists..and should be kicked out of Europre and Americas.. Osama was found making babies in your military's backyard..you want to deny it too?
LOL. You sad little man
They are not looking for a nod from you…they are saying if you want her extradited she should be treated like a terrorist… and not a hero like internationally acclaimed terrorists and thief like A Q Khan…
Sound like they need a nod to reassure themselves.
Its because US knows that stupid people in Pak will give her a heroic welcome when she comes here and this may just encourage terrorists
Neuro surgeon or GI Jane? makes me wonder
pakistanis are a confused nation
@ Nora
Pakistani's may be a confused nation, even that confusion is because of a poor leadership, yet every Pakistani knows very well the difference between Dr. Afia and Raymond Davis. This double standard has harmed US, more than any other factor.
I salute you sir!
Innocent even if proven guilty
Well never know what is happening in real. Looks like US is agreeing this deal not because of Dr Afia she is a mere excuse rather this deal is happening to transfer CIA terrorist from pakistan in future without any hicups which are non existents anyways.
