The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has refused to lay transmission line in respect of wind power projects giving rise to fear that it may lead to affect 7 billion dollars foreign investment.

According to a private TV channel, the NDC has said in a letter addressed to NEPRA that the project for laying transmission line would take time till December 2016, hence it (project) could not be executed forthwith.

The foreign investment companies have started giving a thought to withhold investment in this project following refusal by the NTDC.

The alternative energy board indicated that the project having the capacity of 3000 megawatt will remain in pipeline till next year. Several foreign companies are interested to initiate projects in Karachi and Hyderabad belt but 60 to 70 kilometer transmission line is required to transmit electricity from these projects to grid stations.

The NTDC has said no planning had been evolved at all to lay the transmission line.
