Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that the missing persons case was the most vital issue of the country and “we cannot shut our eyes to it”.
While expressing concern over missing status of people, apathy on the part of state and lack of cooperation from the intelligence agencies in the matter, the CJP said, “For how long more we will avert the applicants. There is a limit to everything. Missing persons matter is the most important issue of the country. We cannot close our eyes to it. Why does the government not address this issue. As to why any policy is not evolved in this respect.”
“Appointing a lawyer by the Defence Ministry in the presence of the attorney general (AG) is tantamount to expressing mistrust. We have lost our peace of mind, imagine the level of restlessness relatives of missing persons are facing. Police officer is recording such a major evidence and it will be state failure if the missing persons are not recovered now,” the CJP said.
Justice Jawad S Khawaja said the police officer was saying personnel of intelligence agencies had picked youths up.
“What could be bigger evidence than this? This is a serious matter. The government should either ask us in writing to abandon the hearing of these matters or resolved the issues.”
Sub-Inspector Ehsan Elahi and Additional Attorney General (AAG) Tariq Khokhar also appeared in the court.
Khokhar told the court that a police officer had levelled charges with reference to intelligence agencies. “A possibility is there for the Defence Ministry to appoint its lawyer or file statement in this respect. “
The CJP said, “Do you have no trust in the AG to talk this way. The matters have gone too far ahead already that you should realise that it has become the biggest issue of the country.”
The court directed the AG to ascertain what the government was doing in this connection and adjourned the hearing until July 26.
Quote "we cannot shut our eyes to it”.
But the Honorable CJ closed his eyes on such issues like:
1) Imran khan participation and winning polls in violation of article 62
2) Nawaz sharif becoming PM for the 3rd time despite charges of money laundering, corruption, attacking SC etc
3) Appointment of Najam sethi in flagrant violation of article 62/63
4) Holding highest public office by convicted and criminals during the last 05-years
5) Misleading the nation over the case of president Zardari (it was a simple case of disqualification) etc etc
6) Citizens raised such issues on various forums but CJ remained silent
All this is done and is seen in the context of article 5.1 "Loyalty to the State is the basic duty of every citizen"
