Establishment against dialogue with Taliban: Fazl

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Fazlur Rehman on Friday said the establishment was against dialogue with the Taliban despite the fact that all political forces supported the idea.

Talking to reporters at the Parliament House, Fazl said all military operations were unconstitutional.

On the upcoming presidential elections, he said the government had assured the parties of consultation on a presidential candidate. He said as most of the members would go home for celebrating Eid with their families, therefore, the presidential election should be conducted on July 29 or July 30.

‘‘The government can overcome all problems if it chooses the right path. Now is the initial stage and a search for direction is underway. A grand strategy is required to overcome all national issues,” the JUI-F chief said.

To a question, he said the offer for dialogue with the Taliban had been received but it was delayed and later abandoned after Waliur Rehman was killed in a drone attack.

“Malala Yousafzai received unnecessary importance, as there are other Malalas as well. Our culture does not permit even slapping a woman. She has been used internationally for achieving ideological triumphs. History will tell who tried to kill Malala?’’ Fazl said.

He said complete justice should be dispensed in London in the case relating to MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

He said the KP government was following the footstep of the Punjab government. “The PML-N has appointed its own ministers in the first phase.”
