The Balochistan High Court on Friday ordered action against guards of PML-N’s Balochistan chapter president Nawab Sanaullah Zehri.
Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa headed a two-member bench hearing the suo motu case regarding suspension of Quetta City SP by Balochistan CM for stopping security guards of the senior PML-N leader.
Balochistan Advocate General Shakeel Baloch appeared before the bench and said that the SP City had not been suspended and was performing his duties. He claimed that media exaggerated the matter.
The AG further said that the CM had not issued the orders of the suspension of the SP, and held out the assurance to the court that any such incident would not take place in the future.
The court ordered registration of FIR against guards of PML-N’s Balochistan chapter President Nawab Sanaullah Zehri.
An altercation and scuffle took place on Thursday when the guards insisted going inside the Balochistan Assembly building with Zehri, but police officials did not allow them.
Balochistan CM Dr Abdul Malik Baloch suspended the SP City, Sami Soomro, over the issue.
The BHC later took suo motu notice of the incident. The Balochistan home secretary, IGP and Quetta CCPO have been also summoned by the BHC to appear before the court in the case.
During Friday’s proceeding, the court also ordered police to take action against the ministers using unregistered vehicles and civil vehicles bearing police sirens.
The hearing was adjourned until August 1.
The FIR against the five guards of Zehri was lodged later.
Addressing a press conference, Quetta CCPO Mir Zubair Mehmood said armed guards of Zehri thrashed Sub-Inspector Naqeebullah when the latter asked them to leave assembly premises in pursuance of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s directives during the polling for Senate.
The FIR has been launched with the Bijli police station against five armed guards.
The CCPO thanked the Balochistan High Court chief justice for taking suo motu action on the issue and said police believed in the supremacy of law, not in confrontation.
He also said police had thwarted a terror bid by seizing a huge cache of arms and explosives during a raid conducted in Kili Landi area of Kuchlak late on Thursday. He said Molvi Irfan was arrested while two others, Abdul Baqi and Abdul Hadi, escaped.
