Residents of Kuwait Hostel in Sector E-7 fear that open garbage dumps could result in the outbreak of an epidemic in the area. The area is covered in filth, waste and other harmful substances which could lead to serious health problems for the students residing in the hostel. Talking to Pakistan Today, the students said Capital Development Authority (CDA) had no proper plan to clear out the waste. They alleged that the CDA did not perform its duty on time. Due to its negligence, the garbage was widely spread throughout the area, they added. The garbage dumps served as breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other vectors of diseases. The students were concerned that serious diseases could therefore spread in the area which would affect hundreds of students living in the hostel. However, the complaints of the hostilities were falling on deaf ears as the CDA was not doing anything to address the issue.
