FIA has sought permission from the Ministry of Interior for a raid at the residence of a senior PPP leader to arrest former EOBI chairman Zafar Gondal in a corruption case.
Gondal is alleged to have purchased cheap land at much higher rates and thus plundered national wealth.
According to sources, FIA has sent its preliminary report to the Interior Ministry about the scam but has so far not been able to arrest Gondal. FIA sources said Gondal was hiding at the residence of a senior PPP leader in Karachi but senior officials would not allow the raid unless permission was given by the Interior Ministry.
Gondal is brother of former PPP Minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal.
