The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday decided to seek the army’s help for conducting by-elections across the country on August 22.
In this regard, it will establish formal contacts with the army.
Polling would be held on August 22 for the by-elections on 16 National Assembly constituencies and 26 provincial assembly constituencies.
The ECP has also demanded the lists of sensitive and very sensitive polling stations from the returning officers.
It further said it was trying to ensure peaceful elections and therefore the army would be deployed wherever necessary.
