Anti Narcotics Force Regional Headquarter Quetta Director General on Wednesday launched a massive crackdown in Habib Nullah known as City Nullah in Quetta.
Seven drug peddlers were arrested along with recovery of street-supply drugs and 425 drug addicts were dislodged.
According to details, 59 personnel participated in the operation under the direct supervision of the Force Commander.
All the entry and exit points of the locality were blocked and a total of 432 miscreants were hauled up. Initial interrogation led to surfacing of 7 drug pushers meanwhile search of the locality resulted in recovery of approximately 2 kilograms (kg) of high quality heroin including 475 ‘heroin purries’.
The same site was raided a week ago but re-emerged however, all stake holders have been informed to keep a strict watch in order to discourage such elements.
Earlier, in another operation at Gujrat, a spot check was placed at Haryanwala Chowk near Gujrat Bypass a motor cyclist was intercepted carrying 1.1 kg of heroin. Two persons including one woman have been arrested.
FIRs have been registered in both the cases and further investigations are in progress.
175 VEHICLES IMPOUNDED, 160 ARRESTED: Police on Wednesday impounded 10 vehicles and 165 motorcycles in different police stations while tinted black paper from 21 vehicles were removed.
According to details, SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq directed all zonal officers, SDPOs and SHOs to remain vigilant against mischievous elements and enhance security at check posts as well as patrolling in different areas.
Various police stations conducted general holdup and impounded a total of 10 vehicles and 165 motorbikes being driven without any proper documentation.
Meanwhile, 88 suspects were arrested during search operation in multiple areas of the city. Police teams also arrested 72 professional beggars and four proclaimed offenders.
The actual aim of the general holdup is to maintain law and order in the capital. The SSP have appreciated the performance of the department and directed all officials to further enhance security in their respective areas.
4,506 MOTORISTS INCLUDING VIPs FINED: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Thursday fined 4,506 motorists during the last two days including 18 VIPs and imposed a total fine of Rs 13,65,800.
According to details, ITP started a campaign to curb practices of violations including driving un-registered vehicles, one-wheeling, under age driving, driving without licenses and ensuring lane discipline.
During the last two days, 326 vehicles as well as motorbikes were impounded in various police stations while 437 motorists were provided assistance due to vehicle breakdown. Around 380 motorists driving without licenses, 81 amateur drivers, 930 motorcyclists driving bikes without helmets, 965 lane violators, 120 unregistered vehicles were fined during this period. Those issued tickets also include federal ministers, MNAs, MPAs, bureaucrats, judges, journalists and armed officials.
SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood has said that ITP is making efforts to ensure safe road environment in the city and involving the general public to achieve the desired targets of disciplined traffic and equal implementation of law with zero tolerance against violation of rules. He has appealed to the citizens to cooperate with traffic police and follow traffic rules to ensure discipline.
