The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Distributors Association called upon the government to take notice of the frequent increases in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices and to provide relief to consumers in the holy month of Ramazan.
“Commodity prices are reduced for religious festivals world over but here, we see the opposite. The government should cut prices of LPG to give relief to the masses in Ramazan”, the association’s chairman said.
He said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) should take action against ‘unethical forces’ in the LPG sector that were minting money through unjustifiable price increases.
He expressed his hope upon the government taking effective steps to provide relief to the masses by promoting LPG, and by opening filling stations across the country.
He said the LPG association would fully cooperate with the government by providing workable proposals in order promote LPG. Furthermore, he said the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) possessed the capability to solve Pakistan’s economic problems.
To a question, he said the association had always welcomed the government’s initiative and added that the new LPG policy would address various issues overlooked by previous policies. He added that it would also encourage the growth of the LPG industry and result in sustained and enhanced availability of LPG products.
He also revealed that the Cress LPG Private Company Limited planned to establish approximately 1000 LPG auto gas stations across Pakistan by 2015, with the first one scheduled to be inaugurated in Rawalpindi on August 14.
