Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervez Rashid has said that a trap has been laid down against those responsible for the current power crisis.
Talking to newsmen at a ceremony held in connection with family summer camp of the National Press Club on Tuesday, the minister warned that the government official involved in abetting in the heinous crime of gas and power theft would be shown the door.
He said the power houses generating less power than their capacity would be closed down. He claimed the government would be in a position to produce electricity more than its requirement within three-and-a-half years with the execution of the current or proposed power projects. He said the project of Nandipur would be completed within a record time.
To a question about appointment of new chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), he said the opposition had forwarded the names of persons with good repute. However, he said, a person accepted to all would be appointed on this coveted office.
Replying to another question about the presidential candidate, he said the government had not yet decided about the presidential candidate, adding the election to the office of presidency would be held when the electoral college was completed. However, he said, under the constitution there was no bar in holding of presidential election if the electoral college remained incomplete due to any reason.
Referring to the secret fund, he said the government had already abolished it and he also assured to conduct audit of the secret funds used by the previous governments.
