Some rain and more…

Heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon swept the city’s streets, and according to the Met Office, more is expected on Wednesday. Rain water accumulated in low-lying areas, and even the streets in posh localities began to look like small streams. Many residential streets remain inundated. The monsoon season downpour, while it did bring some relief from the muggy weather, has also resulted in enormous problems for the whole city. Low-lying areas in particular became flooded, to the extent that people could not step out of their houses or cross the roads. Rainwater also engulfed the manholes on many streets and made them invisible, causing injuries and difficulties for pedestrians and motorists who fell into them while forcing their way out of the accumulated water. According to the Met Office, the city received as much as 25 mm of rain, and can expect scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds over the next 24 hours. The Office also noted seasonal low lies over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas, and stated that monsoon currents are reaching into the southern and eastern parts of the country.
