Quetta observes day of mourning

A day of mourning with shutter-down strike is being observed in Quetta on Tuesday against the killings of six people belonging to Hazara community in two separate incidents on Monday.

The shutter-down strike call was given by Hazara Democratic Party among various other Shia organizations after which markets located in Bacha Khan Chowk, Liaquat Bazar, Toghi Road, Mariabad, Abdul Sattar Road, Archer Road, Masjid Road, Qandhari Bazar and its adjoining areas remained closed.

Two people were killed in a firing incident that took place in Quetta’s Khuda-e-Dad Road around midnight.

In the second incident of firing, four people were shot dead when unknown gunmen opened fire on a local trader’s vehicle on Masjid Road.

Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Malik Baloch taking notice of the incident directed the police to immediately arrest the culprits.
