Following a day of mourning, a partial shutter-down strike was observed in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan on Tuesday against the killing of seven people belonging to the Hazara community.
The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) had called for the shutter-down in Quetta while the Balochistan Shia Conference announced a day of mourning.
Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch took notice of the incident and sought a report from the IG.
Three people were killed and two others were injured in a firing incident in Quetta’s Khuda-e-Dad Road around Monday-Tuesday midnight.
In the second incident of firing, four people were shot dead when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a local trader’s vehicle on Masjid Road. All the victims belonged to ethnic Hazara community.
Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were deployed in various parts of the city to avoid the occurrence of another untoward incident in the provincial capital.
