The law enforcers busted a gang of criminals using kids as begging tool in the provincial metropolis and recovered 11 children, besides arresting two alleged kidnappers.
According to Station House Office (SHO) Asif Ali, Ghizri police conducted a raid on a house in its jurisdiction and recovered the children who were kidnapped from Punjab and different areas of the provincial metropolis for the purpose of utilising them in a vicious cycle of forced beggary in the metropolis during the month of Ramadan.
The children were aged between 8 to 15 years. They told the police that they were forced to beg by their captors and were tortured so they could earn 500 to 600 rupees daily.
On the other hand, the kidnappers were of the view that the children were not abducted but gathered from city railway stations and footpaths.
