Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N)’s central leader, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Hamza Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the fast pace of development could only be maintained if basic amenities such as education, sewerage and drinking water were readily provided Speaking to a delegation of elders from the Walled City, Sharif said that the government was attaching high priority to Walled City projects, and was determined to ameliorate the lot of poor and neglected people. “With this objective, the Ashiana, Daanish Schools and Rozgar Schemes have been launched,” he said. Hamza added that upon completion, these schemes would lead to a reduction in illiteracy, poverty and unemployment from society. He said that various projects for uplifting the historic walled city were being developed on a priority basis and huge funds had already been earmarked for them.
