Two people, including a Chinese engineer and a local worker, were killed in a landslide near the AttabadLake on Tuesday while one other was injured. They were working at a construction site when a landslide caused the tunnel to collapse.
In an earlier incident, at least one labourer was killed and three others, including two Chinese engineers, were injured in a landslide while working in the same area.
A Chinese road construction company is working on constructing a tunnel from Attabad to Gojal as an alternative to the Karakoram Highway, part of which submerged after a landslide formed a lake on the HunzaRiver.
A local worker, Amjad Ali, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital while another worker succumbed to his injuries. The search for the body of the Chinese engineer is underway.
