At least 100 new cases of measles have been reported in Punjab bringing the total number of reported measles to 22,413. According to Punjab Health Department officials, at least 188 deaths have been reported so far, most of which occurred in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kasur and Sialkot. During the last 24 hours, about 100 cases of measles were reported in the province, including 17 from city hospitals. Meanwhile, the measles vaccination is available at all city hospitals in ample quantity and patients are being treated for free, said Extended Programme on Immunization (EPI)’s focal person Dr Younas. Younas appealed to parents to get children of up to ten years of age vaccinated against measles without delay and to cooperate with vaccinating teams.
