Police seize stolen items worth Rs 72m

The Islamabad Police traced out around 277 theft cases and seized stolen items worth Rs 72,478,131 during the current year, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

According to details, IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan had directed heads of all police circles to accelerate their efforts in resolving and tracing the theft as well as burglary cases and provide maximum relief to the citizens.

The spokesman said that the police had resolved around 277 theft cases and arrested 495 accused involved in theft activities.

City Zone Police arrested around 85 accused and resolved 62 cases along with recovery worth Rs 59,200. Similarly, Saddar Zone resolved 111 theft cases and arrested 204 thieves besides recovering stolen items worth Rs 47,322,440 from them. Likewise, Industrial Area Police successfully completed investigation on 47 cases and arrested 76 thieves besides recovering stolen items worth Rs 5,908,790 from them.

Rural Zone Circle solved 57 cases and arrested 130 thieves along with recovery of Rs13,987,701 from them.

IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq had said that providing relief to citizens is top responsibility of police and every possible effort will be made to provide protection to the lives and property as well as resolving their complaints on immediate basis.

 

SHEESHA SMOKERS ARRESTED: The Police have arrested eight sheesha smokers from the Civil Lines police precincts. According to Rawalpindi police spokesman, Usman, Ali, Irslan, Jawad, Fareed, Irfan, Saad and Muhammad Khan have been arrested. Police also seized three hookahs and other items.

 

VEHICLES IMPOUNDED: The Islamabad police on Sunday impounded 146 vehicles including 111 motorcycles in different police stations while black papers from 53 tinted glasses vehicle were removed, a police spokesman said.

According to the details, SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq directed all zonal officers, SDPOs and SHOs to keep a vigilant eye on the mischievous elements and enhance security at police posts as well as patrolling in the various areas.

Following these directions, police stations conducted a general holdup and impounded a total of 35 vehicles and 211 motorbikes being driven without any authentic documents.

Meanwhile, black papers were removed from 53 tinted glasses vehicles and 60 suspects were arrested during search operation in various areas of the city. Meanwhile police teams arrested 4 professional beggars.

The actual aim of the general holdup is to maintain law and order situation in the capital and to curb the criminals’ activities.
