Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has said the PML-N government favours talks with the Taliban for peace in the country and region.
Talking to media men here on Sunday‚ he said if talks could be held with the Taliban in Doha why they could not be held in Islamabad.
The minister said the government was fully convinced that talks were the best way to address all concerns and reservations of the respective parties. He said even after war‚ the adversaries had to sit across the table for negotiations to settle their disputes.
About drone attacks‚ the information minister said the government wanted to settle this issue with the United States through dialogue. He said the foreign office was in contact with America on this issue.
To a question‚ he said the government wanted to address energy‚ economy and security issues on priority basis. He said the PML N government did not indulge in horse-trading or other tactics to set up its governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
All energies were being used to resolve serious problems of the country, the minister said, adding the agreements signed with China during the recent visit of prime minister would be turning points for Pakistan’s economy.
Moreover‚ the information minister once again categorically denied media reports about the leakage of the Abbottabad commission report.
He said the original report was in the possession of the government and it had neither disappeared nor leaked from prime minister’s office.
Pervaiz Rashid urged the media to wait for the release of authentic version of the report.
