Pakistan’s former wicketkeeper and captain, Moin Khan, has been named as the new chief selector of the Pakistan cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced.
Moin made his Test debut in 1990, later leading the team in 13 matches.
He played his last Test in 2004, ending his 69-match career with 147 wicketkeeping dismissals, which are third in the list of Pakistani wicketkeepers behind Wasim Bari and, more recently, Kamran Akmal.
Moin is Pakistan’s most successful ODI keeper, with 287 dismissals in his 219 ODI matches.
“It is an honour and a privilege to be offered the position of chairman of national selection committe – a position held by many greats in the past and most recently by legendary Iqbal Qasim,” Moin said.
“I have accepted this as a challenge and I am glad that PCB and my own vision corresponds in terms of preparing a pool of talented cricketers who can mount an effective challenge in the 2015 World Cup.”
The PCB said that the rest of the old selection committee will continue under Moin’s command.
