A young Pakistani American boy was shot dead on Friday in Jersey City in New Jersey state a little before “sehri” (the Muslim pre-fast meal). Police and community sources said that 19-year-old Chaudhry Sarfaraz and his brother Amir were standing outside their house when some young robbers appeared suddenly and tried to snatch Amir’s mobile phone. On Sarfaraz’s resistance, they opened fire, killing him on the spot. After funeral prayers in Jersey City his body was taken to the John F. Kennedy airport to be flown to his native town Faisalabad for burial.
