Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General,Liaquat Baloch on Saturday said that world powers are pushing Pakistan towards a political crisis by creating an economic crisis through the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Talking to different delegations at Mansoora, he said that the Nawaz Sharif government had surrendered to the IMF at the time of the budget. He said the general public was aware that the feudal lords, capitalists, power hungry politicians and all state organisations had rallied together against the masses. The electricity and oil crisis had ruined the national economy, he added. Baloch said that if the policies of the last six decades continued, the country would be stuck in a mire of poverty, unemployment, lawlessness and crime, thus moving farther from the goal of self reliance. The masses are disappointed with the new government, and if the federal government does not realise the situation, the country will be plunged into anarchy and turmoil, he said.
IN KARACHI: JI vs. MQM: About the Karachi situation, Liaquat Baloch said that the MQM had introduced the culture of extortion and target killings, which had also been adopted by the previous regime of the Pakistan People’s Party and Awami National Party. The criminals have now turned into a mafia, and rendered the rangers and police helpless in dealing with the situation, he said. Baloch also said that MQM leader Altaf Hussain was a British national and answerable to its government for his crimes. However, he said there was a growing realisation among the residents of Karachi that they had been greatly wronged under the cover of Mohajir-ism and Mohajir rights. He also said that the JI alone could restore law and order in Karachi and bring normalcy there.
