Catriona Matthew took the outright lead of the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic after blowing away her rivals in the second round.

The Scot, who shared the overnight lead with American Angela Stanford, hit a 64 to open up a three-shot lead at Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, Canada.

She now stands at 15-under at the midway point of the tournament.

“It feels really good, I’ve holed a lot of putts but I’ve given myself a lot of chances,” Matthew said. “I wouldn’t really say I’ve holed many super-long ones but just every time I’ve given myself a chance I’m kind of taking advantage of them.”

Her nearest rival remains Stanford, who had a 67 to sit in second at 12-under.

A shot back are a posse of five, consisting of Ryann O’Toole (65), Anna Nordqvist (64) Belen Mozo (66), Chella Choi (65) and Meena Lee (66).

InbeePark, who is bidding to become the first woman to win four consecutive LPGA events since Lorena Ochoa in 2008, also shot a 67 and is one of four players, including Suzann Pettersen, at 10-under.

“This golf course is very scorable, and a lot of people are going on birdie streaks,” Park said. “It’s tough to follow that many birdies all four days. I’m trying my best to get it out there.”
