Kabir & Co’s Railways contract cut short

Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique has terminated the contract of Kabir & Company due to violation of agreement and poor performance. He has also ordered an enquiry into the matter. During his recent inspection, Rafique had showed his discontentment over the state of affairs at Jaffer Express, primarily emphasising on the poor service delivery to passengers, a press release stated. Taking notice of this situation he ordered an immediate enquiry into the matter and terminated contract of the service provider. During the inspection, the minister checked a dining car and was unsatisfied with the quality of food being offered to the passengers. Moreover, he showed his displeasure over the unclean train carriages. The train manager informed Rafique that the contractor was executing the contract through subletting it, the enquiry report stated. The enquiry resulted in the cancellation of the contract with Kabir & Company as they had violated Clause No.24 of the agreement between the two parties. Under this clause, Pakistan Railways is not only allowed to terminate the contract immediately, but it can also forfeit the security funds.
