Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director General (DG) Aftab Sultan, and Interior Secretary Major (r) Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Saturday visited Lyari to review law and order situation.
Following the visit, the IB DG and the interior secretary also visited Sindh Chief Secretary (CS) Ejaz Chaudhry.
Speaking to a local newspaper, the Sindh CS confirmed the visit and said that they had been instructed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the wake of the mass exodus of people belonging to Katchi clan to safer areas.
Furthermore, the chief secretary said that the IB DG and the interior secretary were also briefed about the law and order situation. They were told that the situation had worsened after a conflict between two groups.
Moreover, Sultan and Qamar were informed that the federal government had assured the Sindh government of its assistance in bringing peace to the area.
The Sindh CS said that 59 cases regarding out-of-turn promotions in the Police Department had been disposed of on the Supreme Court’s order, adding that they were working on remaining 12 cases and would resolve them soon.
He also said those officials who were transferred to the Sindh Police Department from other departments had been sent back to their previous departments.
