Boost your health, avoid soft drinks

Medical experts have advised the people against consumption of soft drinks during Iftar and Sehr as they are harmful for health.

Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Deputy Director Dr Wasim Ahmed Khawaja said that the people should use boiled water instead as it is less harmful and is easily absorbed during digestion process.

He said, “Home made drinks like lemonade, milk soda and others are more efficient in combating thirst and as compared to soft drinks.” He said that the consumption of fizzy drinks lead to several diseases including, diarrhoea, gastroenteritis, dehydration, renal problems and even cancer.

Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) Civil Hospital Head Dr Adeeb Rizvi said that soft drinks should be avoided at during Iftar as it is causes kidney problems. “I suggest the people to use fresh juices instead of soft drinks,” he added.
