Three blasts rock Hyderabad

Three blasts exploded one after the other in the early hours of Friday here, but fortunately no casualties were reported.

According to reports, a SSP was targeted in the first blast, whereas the subsequent explosions took place on a railway track.

The first blast took place at 5 am in the morning when a bomb was launched on the SSP office, thus creating a six-foot wide hole in the wall of the building, said police sources.

Eyewitnesses said the blast was so severe that it damaged the windows of nearby houses in the area. Moreover, the ceiling of a mosque also collapsed in the vicinity due to the impact of the blast.

A short while after the incidents, a heavy contingent of police personnel reached the SSP office and to Hussainabad district where the two other explosions occurred on a railway track.

Police and Rangers’ cordoned off the affected areas and started a search operation for unidentified miscreants.

Due to the explosion, railway traffic going from Karachi to Peshawar was suspended for some time and only after clearance and repair of the track, was the traffic restored.
