The Pakistan Railways has decided to cut its fare by 33 percent to encourage people to frequently use railways.
A substantial reduction of 33 per cent in rail fares was announced on the directives of Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique. The new rates will be applicable from July 11.
A passenger Malik Tanveer at Rawalpindi Railway Station, while boarding a Karachi bound train said, “The move by the minister would help in increasing the number of passengers as people love to travel through train.” However, he said that steps are also required from the minister and the management alike to make sure that trains arrive on time.
Another passenger Kasim Awan said that rail is the cheapest and safest mode of travel but has suffered greatly during the past years. “With the formation of the PML-N government and under the new minister many positive changes have taken place.”
A family traveling to Lahore said that railways is the best and cheapest means for traveling with children and reduction of fare would have a positive impact on Pakistan Railways.
