A 36-year-old Pakistani along with two others allegedly attempted to steal electricity wires from the DEWA Power Station in Al Qussais on Thursday, the Dubai Criminal Court heard. AA was keeping watch on the street while his accomplices were cutting electricity wires with a sharp tool when a DEWA engineer spotted them. “The three left everything behind and ran away. But I can clearly describe the man keeping watch outside,” testified the engineer. AA was arrested by the police, and upon confrontation he admitted that he was involved in the unsuccessful theft with two accomplices.
“We planned the theft and took a taxi to Al Qussais. We observed three stations and decided upon one of them. I was watching the street while the other two entered the station. They were cutting wires when a DEWA car passed by so we all run away,” admitted AA. The court will issue its verdict on July 31.
