A group of lawyers on Thursday has been booked for misbehaving with the district judge and ransacking his court during court proceedings.
Police said that Additional Session Judge Amjad Iqbal Ranjha was hearing a case regarding encroachment by some traders at state and private property. Verdict was passed against the traders and they were directed to vacate illegal encroachments from the area.
On this, a group of lawyers headed by Advocate Munawwar, Waqar Hanif and Hafiz Tauqeer started chanting slogans against the judiciary and ransacked the court. However, a case was registered against the lawyers.
Margalla Police registered an FIR against a number of unidentified lawyers including three nominated accused Munawwar Abbasi, Waqar Hanif and Hafiz Tauqeer. However, no arrests have been made yet.
Meanwhile, District Bar Association has called for an emergency meeting to review the case at F-8 Markaz.
