West Indies were eliminated from the tri-nation series after India defeated Sri Lanka by 81 runs via the Duckworth/Lewis method in the rain-affected last league match of the series.
India, batting first, had their innings ended at 119 for three off 29 overs because of rain.
And Sri Lanka, set a revised target of 178 from 26 overs, were bowled out for 96 off 24.4 overs.
The West Indies were hoping for a Sri Lanka victory in order to advance to tomorrow’s final.
As a result of the victory, India have earned the right to meet Sri Lanka in the final.
India, who had lost their first two matches, earned a bonus point to finish atop the table on 10 points – one ahead of Sri Lanka and the West Indies on nine.
However, Sri Lanka advanced over the West Indies courtesy of a superior net run rate.
India captain Virat Kohli says the players showed a lot of character to bounce back from two straight defeats.
