Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Muhammad Haroon Agar on Wednesday urged the Federal Board of Revenue chairman to upgrade the software of GST e-filing portal in line with the new changes introduced in the Finance Bill.
Changes were required after the increase in GST to 17 percent, he said. “KCCI’s members are facing difficulty in filing their GST returns,” said Agar.
In a letter to the FBR chairman, Agar drew his attention towards necessary upgrading and stated that several members have approached KCCI informing that they were unable to file their GST Returns electronically as the relevant system of the FBR was accepting the filing on old GST rate of 16 percent while the system was not receiving electronic filing of GST at the rate of 17 percent as per the new changes introduced in Finance Bill/ Budget 2013-14.
Agar demanded to upgrade the system on immediate basis in order to avoid inconvenience caused to the registered tax payers who file their returns electronically as per new changes and enhanced GST rate of 17 percent.
