The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has asked the Ministry of Planning and Development to look into the allegations of irregularities in the revised cost of Nandipur power project.
Its meeting chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Thursday asked the Planning Ministry to present facts before it and share with the people of Pakistan.
The ECC was informed that one out of Rs 2 billion of Ramazan Relief Package has already been released to the Industries and Production Ministry.
The Commerce Ministry told the meeting that Trading Corporation of Pakistan has already issued a tender for procurement of 50‚000 tones of white sugar from local sugar mills. Second tender for an equal quantity will be issued on 18th of this month.
The Industries and Production Ministry informed the ECC that tenders for procurement of urea have been floated. The Finance Minister said that allocation of gas for production of 50‚000 tonnes of urea per month should be done today positively.
The meeting expressed satisfaction over the liquidation of 322 billion rupee in circular debt and the amount of 181 billion would be settled by the end of this month.
It was decided that the ECC will meet tomorrow again to discuss one point agenda of the business plan for PIA.
