The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Distributors Association has called upon the government to take notice of frequent raises in prices of the commodity to extend relief to consumers in the holy month of Ramazan.
“Everywhere in the world, price of commodities comes down on the occasion of religious festivals but, here, we see things otherwise, the government is needed to take notice to withdraw at the least the recent increase of Rs 5 per kg, Rs 60 per domestic and Rs 240 per commercial cylinders to give relief to masses in the month Ramazan,” the Association’s chairman said.
He said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority(OGRA) should play its role by taking action against the unethical forces in the LPG sector, that were extracting money through unjustified raises.
However, he hoped, the government would make solid measures for promotion of LPG to extend relief to consumers.
“We have high hopes from government to take effective steps for provision of relief to common people by promoting the LPG and opening its filling stations, across the country,” he added.
He said the LPG association would be fully co-operating with the government by providing workable proposals to it in order to resolve issues for promotion of LPG to extend relief to consumers who were already faced with high prices of daily-use commodities.
He said the PML-N party had the capability to drive the country out of the economic problems and overcome the energy problem, besides resolving all outstanding issues of the business community.
To a question, he said the association has always welcomed the government’s initiative and added the new LPG policy would address various issues that could not be covered in the previous policies besides encouraging growth of LPG industry for its sustainable and enhanced availability of LPG products.
He also revealed the Cress LPG, Private Company Limited had finalized a plan to establish as many as 1000 Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) auto gas stations, across the country.
He said those LPG auto gas stations would be opened by 2015 and the first one would be inaugurated in Mandra, Rawalpindi, on August 14 in order to provide environment-friendly and safe fuel to consumers.
