The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday directed the additional attorney general (AAG) in NICL case to set the priorities first as how to run matters related to recoveries, land and appointment.
A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry, took up the NICL case for hearing.
The CJP said, “We have been told nothing what proceedings has been initiated with reference to appointment of former chairman NICL Ayyaz Niazi. Recoveries amounting to Rs 420 million are yet to be made in Lahore land case.
He also said, “Mohsin Warraich fled from the country and FIA initiated no proceedings to bring him back in the country nor was any action taken in connection with cancellation of bail.
Addressing AAG Shah Khawar, the CJP remarked, “We had asked you on previous hearing that government be told that the officers who are facing contempt of court proceedings are being promoted. This creates ridiculous situation. The case has been fixed since the last two years but nothing has been done so far.”
Shah Khawar told the court the cases in respect of the persons who are facing contempt of court proceedings be run.
The court directed AAD to inform it under what priorities the matters related to recoveries, land and appointments have to be run.
The hearing of the case was adjourned until July 25.
