At least seven people were killed and 15 others injured in a suicide blast in the Pakistan-Afghan border region on Thursday.
According to media reports, the blast took place in Desh Mandi area of Chaman.
Frontier Constabulary (FC) officials said six injured had been moved to Civil Hospital Chaman.
The attack took place on the Afghan side of the border.
Following the attack, the Bab-e-Dosti checkpost was closed to avoid any untoward situation.
A large number of law enforcement personnel reached the spot as a probe into the incident was launched.
Transportation of NATO supplies was also suspended due to the closure of the border.
This incident comes a few days after a suicide bomber killed six people, including the Afghan border commander Akhtar Muhammad, on the Afghan side of the border.
No one has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
Chaman is the second major town on Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan after Torkham in the northwest.
Chaman is also the main land route for NATO supplies crossing from Pakistan into Afghanistan.
In recent weeks, Taliban insurgents have accelerated their campaign of suicide attacks and roadside bombs in the region, as NATO’s withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2014 draws closer.
Poor innocent people. I hope their government will provide them full support to recover in this tragedy.
