The Lahore City District Government Environment Protection Department (EPD) on Tuesday fined owners of noisy and toxic smoke emitting vehicles Rs 31,500 in various areas of the city.
According to EPD sources, four monitoring teams visited Garhi Shahu, Thokar, GardenTown and Bhati Chowk to inspect buses, rickshaws, cars, motorbikes and other vehicles for checking their fitness according to the Environment Quality Standards.
As many as 250 vehicles found in violation of these standards were fined.
