DCO unveils Ramadan price list

Lahore District Coordination Officer Naseem Sadiq on Tuesday issued the subsidised rate list of daily commodities for the Ramadan Bazaars.

He said that price control magistrates would ensure that the commodities would be sold at the specified rates, ensuring ready provision to the public. He directed the price control magistrates to regularly visit the Ramadan bazaars, ordering stern legal action against the violators of the price list.

According to the price list, Basmati Rice (Super New) would be available at Rs 100 per kilogramme (kg) compared to the open market rate of Rs 110, Basmati Rice (386) at Rs 65 per kg, Gram Pulse at Rs 55/kg, Mash Pulse (washed) at Rs 110/kg, Mash Pulse (unwashed) at Rs 105/kg, white chickpea at Rs 65/kg, black chickpea at Rs 53/kg, baisan at Rs 58/kg, Masoor Pulse at Rs 90/kg and Mong Pulse at Rs 107/kg. Further, local dates would be sodl at at Rs 115/kg and imported at Rs 130/kg.

Interestingly, the rates for sugar, milk, yogurt, mutton and beef have not been included in the price list.

The DCO said that the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has prepared a special Ramadan Plan to facilitate the citizens. All concerned officials would remain vigilant in Ramadan and would ensure that good quality goods are sold at their government sanctioned rates.

According to the Ramadan Plan 2013 unveiled by the DCO on Monday, 20 Ramadan Bazaars were being established in Gulberg (Pace Centre and Macca Colony), Nishter Town (Model Bazaar, 1-C-1 Township), Kahna Nau Main Ferozepur Road, Nishter Colony, Ravi Town (Chowk Begum Kot and Outside Delhi Gate), Samnabad (Wahdat Colony and Gulshan-e-Ravi Moon Market), Shadman Bazaar, Khursheed Road, Government College for Women in Islampura, Iqbal Town, Main Plaza Johar Town, Model Bazaar Raiwind Committee, Model Bazaar Sabzazar, Wahgha Town, Aziz Bhatt Town (Sunday Bazaar Ghaziabad Tajpura, Harbanspura and Chungi) and Shalimar Town.

“13 Ramzan Dastar Khawans would be established in different parts of the city and 51 would be set up in mosques”, he added.

The DCO also said that three special squads had been constituted to act against hoarders and price hiking, while a special control room has been established at Nadir Hall. Further, citizens can register any complaints they may have on 042-111-293-031, he added.
