Citizens welcome rain

The monsoon rains has decreased the soaring temperatures across the country as citizens thronged popular recreational spots to enjoy the weather.

Rawal Lake, Daman e Koh, Shakarparian, Rose and Jasmine Gardens and Rawal Dam Park lying in Margalla Hills were filled with visitors. The country has witnessed record breaking temperatures during the summer season.

A visitor Munir at Shakarparian said, “The rains have brought relief following frequent power outages and hot weather. After spending a month enjoying the weather in Murree I am looking forward to spend Ramadan in the city.”

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the rain spell would continue in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan till Thursday with occasional gaps. The synoptic situation says that seasonal low was lying over north Balochistan and its adjoining areas. Monsoonal currents from the Arabian Sea are continuously reaching into the upper and eastern parts of the country. A western disturbance was also affecting northern parts of the country.

Rain-thundershower associated with gusty winds is expected in Islamabad,

Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Lahore, Sargodha, Peshawar, Malakand, Hazara, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The weather would remain hot and humid in most parts of Sindh and Balochistan during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours: Islamabad 34 C, Lahore 32 C, Karachi 34 C, Peshawar 38 C, Murree 24 C, Quetta 39 C, Muzzafarabad 36 C, Multan 40 C, Hyderabad 38 C, Skardu 33 C and Gilgit 33 C.

The rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours was Mandi Bahauddin 80mm, Risalpur 65mm, Islamabad 58mm, Chakwal 45mm, Rawalpindi 32mm, Parachinar 27mm, Rawalpindi (Shamshabad) 25mm, Kotli 24mm, Islamabad(Golra) 23mm, Mangla 20mm, Joharabad 16mm, Lower Dir 15mm,Garhi Dupatta 14mm, Kakul 12mm, Balakot 8mm, Murree 7mm, Rawalakot 6mm, Sargodha 5mm, Gujranwala 4mm, Mirkhani 3mm, Drosh, Sialkot, Bannu, Kalam, Muzaffarabad 2mm and Okara, Hunza 1mm.
