Tauqir Sadiq likely to be brought back today

The fugitive former Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairman, Tauqir Sadiq, is likely to be brought back to Pakistan today (Tuesday).

Sadiq, allegedly involved in Rs 82 billion scam, would be brought back to Pakistan by the NAB special team, which is in Dubai since the last few weeks.

The NAB team has completed all legal formalities for taking the custody of the accused from Interpol. Sources in NAB said Sadiq was likely to be brought back on Tuesday (today).

The former OGRA chief has been declared a proclaimed offender and is also a principal accused in a Rs 82 billion corruption case.

After declaring his appointment as OGRA chief illegal on November 25, 2012, the Supreme Court ordered NAB to arrest him. However, the accused, who is a close relative of PPP senior leader Jahangir Badr, managed to leave Pakistan even though his name was on the exit-control list.
