Nicknamed ‘The Mother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’, estranged leader of the women’s wing, Fauzia Kasuri on Monday returned to the party’s folds following intervention by PTI chief Imran Khan.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Fauzia Kasuri said that her issues with the party’s top leadership had been resolved by Imran Khan and now she would serve the party as the chairman’s special adviser.
“I joined PTI because of its ideology and my return proves my loyalty with the party,” Fauzia said, adding that she was also reconsidering her decision of contesting the by-election from NA-48 constituency in Islamabad, which had fallen vacant after her party colleague Makhdoom Javed Hashmi decided to retain his National Assembly seat from Multan. The PTI has already announced Asad Umar’s candidature from NA-48 and Fauzia had announced to contest the election against him as an independent candidate.
Fauzia said that Imran Khan had contacted her personally and assured her that not only her concerns would be addressed, but the party leadership would also ensure respect for the pioneers.
The former women’s wing president said that she is rejoining the party as adviser to the chairman on foreign affairs and gender affairs.
Meanwhile, TV reports said that brining Fauzia Kasuri back in the party was a joint effort of Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Insaf Students Federation’s President Farrukh Habib and Secretary Waqas Iftikhar Butt.
PTI’s Ayesha Gulalai Wazir from South Waziristan had also offered Kasuri to take her NA seat instead of leaving the party.
