Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has excused himself from hearing the petition seeking cancellation of bail of former president Pervez Musharraf.

The CJP said the case will be fixed before some other bench in the next week. It is likely that a three-member SC bench, headed by Justice Jawad S Khawaja would hear it.

A three-member bench of SC was to hear the case on Monday.

The CJP is directly affected by the November 3, 2007 steps and per the Code of Conduct 4, judges cannot hear the case with reference to themselves or any of their relatives.

  1. thats fine – so long as he keeps out of "guiding" and influencing the judges who are hearing the cases.Just a point to remember, iftikhar wanted to hear the proceedings in his beloved son's case until he was pushed out because of vested interest!people do not have short memories.

  2. If a dog dies of thirst near the bank of river "Firaat" ; Umer will be responsible and accountable.
