Neelum-Jhelum Project to complete by 2016, PM told


Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was informed on Saturday that the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project would complete by 2016 as work on the transmission line is yet to start.

While travelling from Beijing to Shanghai in a high speed train along with his entourage, the prime minister held four meetings with various delegations and discussed different development and power projects.

In a meeting with Nawaz, Gezhouba Company Executive President Yang Yisheng expressed willingness to execute power, infrastructure and high speed train projects in Pakistan.

He also expressed desire to take part in the construction of the Diamer Bhasha Dam and that his company would strive to seek financial support from the Chinese monetary institutions.

He told the prime minister that his company was engaged in the construction of Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project that would complete by 2016.

He said work on the project’s transmission line is yet to start, however his company has already submitted its bid for the purpose. To a question, the prime minister was told that the transmission line would cost $200 million.
